Plymouth sack manager Hodges
Kevin Hodges
Kevin Hodges ran out of time at Plymouth Argyle
Kevin Hodges has been dismissed as manager of Plymouth Argyle after a miserable start to the season.

Hodges' reign as Pilgrims boss and that of Steve McCall his assistant came to an end following another emergency board meeting at the club, report BBC Radio Devon.

The manager was just into his third season having left Torquay United for Argyle hot seat in July 1998.

Having narrowly missed out on the play-offs in his first season in charge, Plymouth finished 12th last term but it has been this season's dreadful form that brought the sacking.

Argyle have not won at all away from home, including drubbings at Shrewsbury and Cheltenham.

At home, there's been only two victories in five matches with Saturday's 3-2 defeat against Barnet being the final nail in the coffin.

Hodges goes with less than a year left on his current contract.

Kevin Summerfield has been put in temporary charge of first team affairs, and the club state that the search for a new manager has already begun.
