Plymouth Argyle's management quash takeover concerns

Plymouth Argyle

Plymouth Argyle's administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has said there is no basis in rumours suggesting a deal to buy the club has failed.

Supporters contacted acting chairman Peter Ridsdale over reports that an Irish consortium, who are the preferred bidders for Argyle, had pulled out.

But Guilfoyle told BBC Spotlight: "I know of nothing to make me believe they are not going to do the deal."

Ridsdale is due to meet consortium members in London on Friday.

Guilfoyle also said the consortium has paid a six-figure sum to keep the club going.

That payment was made two weeks ago, with the next staged payment not due until later this month.

The identity of the consortium cannot be revealed due to a confidentiality agreement until 14 June.

Plymouth entered administration in March with debts of over £17m, divided between more than 240 unsecured creditors, and were subsequently relegated from League One in May.
