Reading end interest in Plymouth's Wright-Phillips

Reading have halted their interest in signing striker Bradley Wright-Phillips from cash-strapped League One side Plymouth Argyle.

The 25-year-old, who has scored 13 goals this season, had been in talks with Reading since last Saturday.

Reading's director of football Nick Hammond said: "We are disappointed as Bradley is a fantastic young man.

"There are currently some medical issues that prevent us from completing the deal at this time."

Hammond continued: "I would like to thank Plymouth Argyle for their very professional approach in these discussions."

Wright-Phillips has struggled with a knee injury since signing for Argyle on a free transfer from Southampton in July 2009.

The striker, League One's leading scorer, often misses training sessions because of his knee problem.

Plymouth need to raise money to pay off an unpaid tax bill of around £500,000 to HM Revenue & Customs.
