Plymouth Argyle have appointed John Carver as the new assistant coach to Paul Mariner.
Carver had brief spells as caretaker manager at Newcastle and Leeds, and was also assistant coach to Sir Bobby Robson at St James' Park.
The 44-year-old was head coach of Major League side Toronto FC, from February 2008 until April 2009.
Mariner told BBC Radio Devon he is "thrilled" to have Carver on board as part of his staff at Home Park.
Carver is due to meet the Plymouth Argyle players for the first time at training on Thursday morning.
