Plymouth sign Rangers striker Gow

Plymouth Argyle have completed the signing of Rangers striker Alan Gow for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old made just two appearances in two years for the Ibrox club and spent much of last season on loan at Blackpool and Norwich.

Last year Gow turned down a possible move to Burnley and then a transfer to Wolves collapsed in January when he failed a medical.

The Scotland B international has signed a two-year contract at Home Park.

Gow began his career at Clydebank, before moving to Falkirk via Airdrie United.

The forward's impressive form throughout his two-year stint with the Bairns prompted returning Rangers manager Walter Smith to tie the player up on a pre-contract agreement in January 2007.

However, he was unable to make a single Scottish Premier League appearance for the Ibrox club, winning his only two starts in the domestic cup competitions.

Gow's addition increases the large Scottish contingent at the Championship club.

As well as manager Paul Sturrock, the Pilgrims' ranks also include Jim Paterson, Chris Clark, David McNamee, Steven McLean, and Jamie Mackie.
