Larrieu made his debut in an LDV Vans Trophy game in 2000 against Bristol City, and has gone on to make 256 appearances for the club.
Sturrock hopes Larrieu's experience will rub off on Saxton.
"I'm very pleased with his development," added the Argyle boss. "It's difficult for a young goalkeeper. It takes a long time to gain the experience you need.
"He will be on the bench [for first-team games] next season and play in reserve matches. That will help him come along."
