Plymouth Argyle have extended central defender Russell Anderson's loan from Sunderland until the end of the season.
The Scotland international had been due to return to Wearside this week at the end of a one-month deal at Home Park.
But following discussions between Sunderland boss Roy Keane and Anderson on Monday it has been agreed to extend his stay.
Sunderland have retained the option of a 24-hour recall should they need cover for injury problems.
Anderson has played seven times for Argyle since joining them in February and his form has earned him a recall to the Scotland squad.
Argyle boss Paul Sturrock recently spoken of his admiration for the former Aberdeen defender.
"He's a model professional," Sturrock told reporters on Monday. "We'd like to keep him."
Sturrock had said last Friday how he hoped that Argyle's match at Bristol City would not be Anderson's last game for the club.
