Plymouth have terminated the contract of defender Anthony Barness by mutual consent and with immediate effect.
The 33-year-old was signed a two-year contract in June 2005 but has left prematurely after making only two outings this season.
Barness' career has been plagued by troublesome injuries and he was snapped up by ex-Plymouth boss Bobby Williamson after being released by Bolton.
He has also had spells at Charlton, Chelsea, Middlesbrough and Southend.
