Friio eyes new deal
French midfielder David Friio says he would be happy to sign an extended contract with Plymouth Argyle.

The playmaker's current two-year contract at Home Park comes to an end in the summer.

But Friio predicts the Pilgrims will secure promotion to Division One within the next couple of seasons - and he is keen to play a part.

"I have really enjoyed my time with Plymouth so why not stay? " he said.

The club is progressing, not only on the pitch

David Friio
"I think Plymouth deserve to be at least in the First Division, and will be in the First Division in the next two years.

"The South West needs a big club and Plymouth has big potential."

Friio, who made his 100th appearance for Paul Sturrock's outfit in last Saturday's 2-0 win at Notts County, added: "The club is progressing, not only on the pitch.

"The squad is building slowly and, hopefully, the ground will be finished in a couple of years," he told the Plymouth Evening Herald.

The former Nimes, Epinal and Valence ace initially joined Argyle on non-contract forms in November 2000.

He then sealed his current deal at the end of the 2000-2001 term.

Friio, 29, added: " I have not spoken to anybody yet, but my family is settled in Plymouth. "
