Sturrock staying at Plymouth
Plymouth Argyle's boss Paul Sturrock (right) celebrates with the Division Three trophy with David Friio
Sturrock led the Pilgrims to the Division Three title
Plymouth Argyle vice-chairman Peter Jones has said that manager Paul Sturrock is staying at the club.

The announcement comes in the wake of reports that Sturrock has rejected the opportunity to manage Division One Watford.

The Hornets dismissed Gianluca Vialli as manager last month and have been strongly linked with Sturrock, who guided the Pilgrims to last season's Division Three title.

Watford have also been linked with former Brentford boss Steve Coppell and Peter Taylor, who guided Brighton to promotion from Division two last season.

But Jones is adamant that Sturrock will be staying at Home Park.

"There has been a lot of discussion over the last couple of days about Paul Sturrock's future as manager of Plymouth Argyle," Jones told the club's official website.

"As so often happens in football, this has been based on conjecture and surmise.

"The club is pleased to confirm that Paul has unequivocally re-stated his commitment to Argyle.

"He is looking forward to pre-season, to the friendly matches coming up over the next four weeks and to the challenge of Division Two."
