Beswetherick leaving Argyle
Jon Beswetherick is to leave Home Park after rejecting Plymouth's offer of a new two-year deal.
The fans' favourite took three weeks to mull over the contract before deciding his future lies away from the Third Division champions. Pilgrims manager Paul Sturrock pushed Beswetherick for an answer earlier this week, saying: "I need to know so that I can bring in a replacement." Crewe link He will be sad to lose the talented defender but is comforted by the fact that he has most of the summer to bring in someone else. Beswetherick, 24, joined the club in 1995 as a trainee and made his debut in October 1997. He went on to appear more than 150 times for Argyle and became a hit with the fans for his committed displays. It is not yet clear where Beswetherick will go, but speculation continues to link him with Crewe, Sheffield Wednesday or a possible career in Scotland. |
