Steve Paterson is the new manager of Peterhead following the sacking of the management team of Iain Stewart and Paul Mathers.
Paterson was Aberdeen boss from December 2002 until May 2004
Former Aberdeen manager Paterson joins the club from Highland League outfit Forres and will be assisted by former Ross County boss Neale Cooper.
Paterson told BBC Sport: "I am uncomfortable with events.
"But I did not make any move or engineer my way in and I have no doubt Iain will find another good job."
The Blue Toon missed out on promotion via last season's play-offs but currently seventh in the Second Division.
"The board decided that they wanted a more experienced management team in to win promotion and ultimately reach the Premier League and that's their right," said Paterson.
Paterson was dismissed by Aberdeen in 2004 amid problems in his private life.
"I take this post a stronger character and a bit wiser," he said.
"And I'm excited by the opportunity."
Peterhead chairman Roger Morrison added: "I want to take the club forward."
