Peterborough United winger Nathanial Mendez-Laing has said he is happy to help fill the void left by the departure of the prolific Aaron Mclean.

The 18-year-old Wolves loanee came off the bench to score his first ever goal in Monday's 4-1 win over Walsall.

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:"I've played up front before and I don't mind playing there.

"To be fair I think that's where the manager [Gary Johnson] sees me playing in future."

Mclean has made the move to Hull for a seven-figure sum, leaving Posh short of attacking options.

Lee Tomlin started up front alongside top scorer Craig Mackail-Smith against Walsall with Mendez-Laing coming off the bench.

"Scoring the third goal was special for me because it's my first one for Peterborough," he said.

"I came on thinking 'I really need to score' as it's been a while and I was delighted when it went in."

Mendez-Laing has made 17 league appearances for the Posh this season, 14 of which have been off the bench.
