Peterborough's George Boyd hails second-half showings

Peterborough United winger George Boyd believes the squad's high fitness level is the reason for their recent second-half comebacks.

Posh scored two second-half goals as they fought back from 1-0 down to beat Cardiff in the Carling Cup on Tuesday.

Boyd told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "If we could play the first half as we've been playing in the second half we'd batter sides.

"I think perhaps fitness-wise we come alive in the second half."

Boyd scored the winner as Posh claimed a 2-1 win over the Bluebirds to progress into the third round.

"It got stuck under my feet a little bit and I got it onto my right foot so decided to try and curl it in," he said.

"It was important to get the job done in 90 minutes and we can now look forward to the next round now."

Posh came back from two goals down to beat Huddersfield 4-2 on Saturday with Boyd scoring the first.

The 24-year-old agreed a new long-term deal with Peterborough over the summer despite interest from Championship clubs.

With four goals to his name and Posh having won four of their five matches so far, he has no regrets over his decision.

"I'm scoring well and the team are playing well so I'm really enjoying it at the moment," he said.

Meanwhile, Mark Little could be out for up to a month after missing Tuesday's match with a knee problem, he is set for a scan on Wednesday.
