Crawley Town sign Peterborough United's Sergio Torres

Crawley have signed Peterborough winger Sergio Torres on a two-year-deal for a fee in excess of £100,000.

The 26-year-old Argentine played just nine times for Posh last season, but scored twice during a nine-game loan spell at Lincoln City.

Boss Steve Evans told the club website: "Sergio is a huge talent and he becomes another part of our project.

"He was sought after by many clubs but thankfully he has decided Crawley Town is the right club for him."

He added: ''We have a lad here who, if we give him the ball in good areas of the pitch, will cause havoc and open up defences for himself and others to take advantage of.

"This is another great signing and I am thankful to my directors for such good support."

The club, who recently cleared their £1m debt bill, have invested in eight players in the past month, including Rotherham United midfielder Pablo Mills and strikers Matt Tubbs, Craig McAllister and Jamie Cook.

Talking about his move to the Blue Square Bet Premier side, Torres added: "This was a big decision for me, as I had a number of clubs to select from but I was impressed with what Steve Evans said to me over a number of meetings.

''The project here is not just about the present - it is also about the years ahead.

"Steve Evans is very enthusiastic; my boss at Peterborough United, Gary Johnson, and some of the players there spoke very highly of him, I will certainly try my very best to justify the confidence he has shown in me."
