Zakuani targets quick Posh return

Peterborough United defender Gabby Zakuani is expecting to be available for Saturday's key League One promotion clash at Colchester.

The 21-year-old has been struggling with a groin strain.

Zakuani told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I maybe rushed back a bit too quick for the Millwall game, but I should be back for Saturday.

"I've not really tested it over the past few days, but I'll start training towards the end of the week."

Zakuani picked up his groin problem in the win over Oldham on 4 April, but returned at Millwall on Easter Monday only to then miss out against Stockport on Saturday.

Posh could claim promotion to the Championship should they win at Colchester and Milton Keynes lose against Walsall.

And Zakuani, who began his career with Leyton Orient, will be calling in a favour from a former team-mate, Saddlers striker Jabo Ibehre, as Posh look for Walsall to stop Milton Keynes in their tracks.

"Jabo is one of my best friends from my time at Orient," he said, "so I've been on his case telling him to get one or two for me.

"We're going to meet up on Saturday night so, if he does the business, the drinks will be on me, but ultimately it's all about what we do."

Zakuani does not believe nerves will be a problem ahead of yet another big match.

"The whole camp is really relaxed," he said. "It's a big game, but we just need to keep putting in the performances.

"If we play like we know we can there shouldn't be a problem, it's a big one back you have to stay relaxed."
