Peterborough United have completed the signing of Wycombe Wanderers' Argentine winger Sergio Torres.

Manager Darren Ferguson has agreed to pay around 150,000 for the 27-year-old, who has agreed a three-year contract at London Road.

Torres told the club's website: "I want to play at the highest level I can and this move is a good one for me.

I have had a look around the stadium and spoken to Darren Ferguson, everyone has made me feel very welcome.

Ferguson, who faced the Argentine when he was at Wrexham, had previously told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire he was happy to have agreed a deal for Torres: "He's one I've always admired.

"When you look back at teams you've played against, he's always been the one who is the main threat for them and I'm delighted to get him on board."

Ferguson insisted he will not be employing Torres as an out-and-out winger as that would not fit in with his tactics.

He said: "The way we play, we don't really play with out-and-out wingers as I want to give my wide-players freedom.

He's a good footballer, he's got two good feet, he's got enough pace and he's got a good temperament

"I think it suits them and if they've got ability you just want to let them get on with it, within the structure of the formation we play obviously."

Torres has impressed Ferguson in a variety of ways, and the Posh manager added: "He's a good footballer, he's got two good feet, he's got enough pace and he's got a good temperament, so he ticks all the right boxes."
