Partick Thistle snap up Hamilton

Partick Thistle have signed striker Jim Hamilton on a free transfer.

The 33-year-old was released by St Mirren at the end of last season and has agreed a one-year deal with the First Division club.

"I'm delighted to have brought Jim to Firhill," Thistle manager Ian McCall told the club website.

"Jim is perhaps in the veteran stage of his career, but he is exactly the different type of striker, a target man, that we've been missing."

McCall revealed that Hamilton recently had surgery on a minor knee injury, but passed his medical without any problems.

"His signing certainly gives us a number of different options up front and I'm sure the likes of Liam Buchanan and Kris Doolan will benefit from his presence," the Jags boss added.

Hamilton scored six goals in 28 appearances for the Buddies last season as he helped them secure their Scottish Premier League safety.

He joined St Mirren from Dunfermline Athletic in January 2008 and also enjoyed spells at Dundee, Dundee United, Hearts, Aberdeen, Ross County, Livingston and Motherwell.

Partick Thistle have also signed former Dumbarton and Everton left-back Patrick Boyle on a two-year deal.

"Such was his form with Dumbarton in the latter half of last season that Mark McGhee was about to sign him while he was still manager at Motherwell," said McCall.
