Oxford United have signed former Rangers defender Steven Kinniburgh on a two-year deal following his release from Ibrox.

The 20-year-old left-back made 14 appearances for the U's while on a loan spell at the Kassam Stadium during the 2009/10 season.

Manager Chris Wilder said: "He knows the club and is desperate to do well.

"The fact that he drove six hours to sign and is ready to relocate speaks volumes about his character."

Kinniburgh added: "I really enjoyed myself here the first time. The chairman and the manager both work very hard to move the club forward.

"The fans deserved to get back into the Football League because they are exceptional and I am happy to be back here and am ready for a new challenge."
