Oxford striker James Constable could give up penalties

Oxford United's top scorer James Constable says he may step aside as the club's penalty taker.

Constable has missed three spot-kicks this season, the latest in the 1-0 win over Rushden & Diamonds.

"It's not been the first time that I have been unfortunate to miss and maybe we need to look at it," the 19-goal forward told BBC Oxford.

"I'm bitterly disappointed in myself. Maybe it is time we look to someone else now."

Adam Chapman scored United's winner against Rushden from the spot with four minutes remaining.

And Constable added: "There are a number of lads who can take penalties, Simon Clist is one who always finishes them in training.

"It's just up to the gaffer, if he wants me to take them then I will but personally I am not feeling that confident with them and maybe it's time for someone new."
