Midson joined the Stutes from Bishop's Stortford in January 2008
Histon top scorer Jack Midson has joined Blue Square Premier rivals Oxford United on a professional deal.
The former Stevenage and Dagenham striker, 25, netted 22 goals last term for the part-time Cambridgeshire side.
Midson will leave his job as a tennis coach to take up a two-year, full-time contract at the Kassam Stadium.
He told BBC Oxford: "That was the main decision, I really want to push myself and to see what I can achieve playing full-time and with Oxford."
Midson believes he can form a good partnership with Oxford's 26-goal top scorer James Constable, who he described as a player with a similar industrious work-rate.
And he said the enthusiasm of U's manager Chris Wilder was a major factor in his decision to join.
"I spoke to him several times," he said. "There's an excitement about his voice. He sorted the contract out with other people - he just talked to me about football.
"Hopefully I can help Oxford get out of this league," said Midson, who was out of contract at the Glassworld Stadium.
"I had a good year and a bit at Histon. It wasn't a secret that we threw everything in the box and it helped me to score goals."
