Haldane had been named in the England C squad for the first time
Oxford United winger Lewis Haldane has been withdrawn from the England C squad after it was discovered he has already played for Wales Under-21s.
The 23-year-old, on a season-long loan at the U's from Bristol Rovers, was in the squad to face Malta Under-21s.
A Football Association spokesman said: "Haldane's inclusion in the England C squad for the Malta was as a result of an administrative error."
Fellow U's winger Craig Nelthorpe is on standby for next Tuesday's game.
