Paul Black signs new deal with Oldham Athletic

Oldham defender Paul Black has signed a new one-year contract with the club.

The 21-year-old has been at the Latics since joining the Centre of Excellence in 2004, and made his 50th first-team appearance last season.

He said: "I played more games last season than I have ever done and I feel each year I have progressed.

"I feel a lot more comfortable and accomplished in the side and I am looking to progress further in the coming seasons."

Black had previously signed a one-year extension to his contract in the summer of 2010 and the left-back featured 32 times for Oldham last campaign.

He continued: "I am very pleased to be staying and to have signed for another year.

"It is strange that - at the age of 21 - I am one of the most experienced players at the club, and am helping the young lads coming into the team when I still have a lot to learn myself."

Black also told the club's website he is fit for pre-season at Boundary Park after undergoing a groin operation and having two hernias repaired at the end of last season.
