Teenage Oldham striker Djeny Bembo-Leta has praised manager Paul Dickov's influence after he scored his first professional goal in midweek.

The DR Congo-born 18-year-old joined the Latics' centre of excellence in 2006 and signed his first professional contract in the summer.

Bembo-Leta told the Oldham Chronicle: "The gaffer talks to me a lot about movement as he is small like me.

"He helps me in training and has given me loads of confidence and belief."

Talking about his goal Bembo-Leta added: "It was a great ball in from Kieran Lee and I just managed to get myself in the right position.

"I was really pleased with the goal and was trying to run away after it but the boys wouldn't let me go.

"A few more games and I will get my confidence up and hopefully score a few more goals."
