Oldham Athletic striker Lee Hughes has been ruled out for the remainder of the season through injury.

The 31-year-old has been sidelined since January with a series of groin problems and requires further surgery.

It leaves Latics manager John Sheridan with minimal striker options as both Craig Davies and Lewis Alessandra are still out injured.

Hughes has scored eight goals in 21 appearances for Oldham since he moved to Boundary Park last summer.

Oldham are in 12th place in League One, just three points outside the play-off positions.
