Ronnie Moore is keen to bolster his strikeforce after watching Oldham lose their LDV Vans Trophy Northern final 6-3 on aggregate to Wrexham.
Following the 1-0 second-leg defeat, the Latics boss said: "We are too nice and don't have a killer instinct.
"I will be making a lot of calls to try to bring somebody in - we need to do something about it and quickly."
A move to bring in Ipswich striker Dean Bowditch, 18, has ended after he refused to drop down to League One.
