Boro backroom change
Nuneaton Borough have undergone a re-shuffle of the backroom staff at Manor Park following assistant Dennis Booth's departure to the England set-up.

Booth has been appointed as a scout to the England under-21 side, joining forces again with David Platt after the pair previously worked together at Nottingham Forest.

Boro boss Steve Burr has named Andy Thackeray as his replacement, with defensive colleague Lee Howey stepping up to fill Thackeray's role as player-coach.

I've got good lads around me so I've given them the chance
Boro boss Steve Burr

Burr said: "I'm sorry to see Dennis go because he's been a good friend of mine for a long time but jobs like this don't come up very often and we wish him all the best.

"I looked long and hard at the situation about bringing someone in but I've got good lads around me so I've given them the chance.

"I'm sure neither of them are ready to hang their boots up yet and they still have a lot to offer and are enjoying playing.

"But I'm sure that at some stage they would like to have a crack at management."

Thackeray, 34, joined Nuneaton from Halifax Town three years ago after a lengthy League career.

Former Sunderland, Burnley and Northampton Town defender Howey joined Boro from Forest Green Rovers last season.

Their promotions allied to Booth's departure also gave Burr some leeway in his budget which he used to sign Kidderminster full-back Ian Clarkson.
