Squires signs for Nuneaton
Nuneaton manager Steve Burr has made his second signing of the close-season by snapping up central defender Jamie Squires.

The 26-year-old former Dunfermline Athletic and Carlisle United centre-back was released by Nationwide Conference rivals Doncaster Rovers.

Squires will compete with with Terry Angus, Lee Howey and Adam Cooper for a starting slot with Nuneaton.

"I've been after a centre-half and he fits the bill. In fact I can't believe Doncaster have let him go," Burr told Doncaster's official website.

Squires follows Telford United striker Mark Quayle into Manor Park.

Simon Weaver, Richard Burgess, Richard Leadbetter, Lee Charles and Marc McGregor were all released at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Doncaster are waiting to see whether Sunderland follow up their interest in highly-rated winger Andy Watson.

The 23-year-old, who had also interested Stockport County, has had a two-day trial with the Premiership club.
