Notts County centre-half Krystian Pearce has signed a new contract that will tie him to Meadow Lane until the end of the 2012/13 season.

Pearce initially signed a deal until the end of this season after being released by Huddersfield in the summer.

The pacy 21-year-old has quickly established himself as first choice at the heart of the Magpies defence.

He has played 26 games this term and has formed an impressive partnership with Mike Edwards in recent weeks.

Midlander Pearce, who started his career with home town club Birmingham City, first joined Notts on loan in November 2007.

He also spent on time on loan during his Blues days at Port Vale, Scunthorpe and Peterborough.
