Notts County officially clear tax debts

Notts County

Notts County have officially settled their tax debts with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.

HMRC served a winding up petition against Notts in January but the club's owner Ray Trew paid off all outstanding tax debts earlier this summer.

Notts, who won promotion from League Two last season, have now been told the case against them has been closed.

"We are delighted to be able to close another sorry chapter in the club's recent past," Trew said.

"The debt to HMRC has been a dark cloud hanging over Notts County since we arrived.

"Having paid the debt to HMRC, we were just awaiting official clearance from them that we were no long under debt management.

"Today's announcement marks another huge step in the right direction for Notts County Football Club.

"With the new season fast approaching, this is exactly the kind of news that we want to hear and I hope that it serves as further reassurance for the fans of our commitment towards moving this club forwards."
