Notts County have signed Chesterfield defender Phil Picken on a month-long loan deal.
The former Manchester United trainee, 23, will fill the right-back spot and is eligible for a place against Exeter City on Saturday.
Picken told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I'm happy to be here and hopefully I can play my games and do well."
Defender Jamie Clapham, 33, has also agreed a new deal to keep him at Meadow Lane until the end of the season.
Picken added: "We're only four points behind Chesterfield, so hopefully we can climb up the table and head towards the play-offs."
Manager Ian McParland needed to strengthen his defence as Jason Beardsley and Mitchell Hanson returned to Derby County and Adam Tann is also a few weeks away from returning from injury.
McParland said: "He's not a big lad but he's a competitor. He gets forward and is good footballer."
