County release six
County avoided relegation with a last day win
Notts County have begun a close season clear-out by releasing six players who were
out of contract.
First-team players Gary Owers, Mark Warren, Niall McNamara and John McCaig have all been allowed to leave by County. Bill Dearden's side only avoided relegation to Division Three on the final day of the season after beating Huddersfield. The three points ensured County's safety even though in the end they finished six points clear of relegated Bournemouth and Bury. David Cross and Callum Osbourne have also been released after their three-year scholarships ended. This is despite Osbourne winning the youth team's players' player of the season award.
