Billy Davies cool on Nottingham Forest's loan options

Davies is in his third season as Nottingham Forest manager

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says he will not dip into the loan market, unless an "exceptional" player becomes available.

Loan signing Ryan Bertrand remains the only new arrival at Forest since the end of last season.

Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Unless they are exceptional, we will not be filling jerseys for filling jerseys' sake.

"We have a squad with a great spirit and a great dressing room dynamic."

The Reds are 13th in the Championship and three points adrift of the play-off places.

"At the moment we are injury free and we have just got to be careful with what type of player we bring in," Davies added.

"We will continue to search to see if we can find the right type for the right price, because we know with money being the way it is, we've got to spend very wisely.

"If nothing happens between now and the next window opening, what we will do is plan to make a number of permanent signings come January.

"I came in here with the intention of building a team over a period of time and to build a team you have got to do that with permanent signings."
