Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies says his club have had a fantastic season despite their defeat by Blackpool in the play-off semi-finals.

Tuesday's second leg at the City Ground ended in misery with a 4-3 defeat, Forest losing 6-4 on aggregate.

But Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Let's not forget what a great season we've had.

"The play-offs came at the wrong time for us - it's a pity the play-offs didn't come round in December."

Davies said his side were not yet ready for the challenges of the Premier League.

"It is a young side that's still got progression to make - a young side that didn't handle the bravery required and they showed their age," he said.

"All in all it just shows us that we're not quite ready [for the Premier League]."

The 45-year-old, who still has two years remaining on his contract with Forest, has not yet confirmed that he will stay at the City Ground next season.

"I've got some thinking to do and conversations to have," he said.
