David Pleat defends Nottingham Forest transfer panel

Pleat highlights vital role of scouts

Nottingham Forest football consultant David Pleat says the club's acquisition panel gets unfair criticism from fans.

Many supporters are unhappy that Forest failed to sign anyone in January.

But Pleat told BBC East Midlands Today: "Every player that has been suggested by the manager has been enquired about and some just aren't available.

"Every club has an acquisitions panel, it's just a name. There's a media anti-feeling towards it because they think it's interference and it's not."

He added: "It may be that other players who have been recommended haven't been wanted by the manager, and he has the final say.

"The supporters must keep faith, the club's in a far better position than it was, it's progressing steadily and its got good people guiding it."
