Nottingham Forest boss Davies chases Palace's Moses

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has confirmed that the club are trying to tie up a deal for Crystal Palace striker Victor Moses.

Palace went into administration on Tuesday but hope the sale of Moses, 19, can help to pay off most of the club's outstanding debts.

Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham: "He's one of many players that catches your eye when he plays in this division.

"But we want to make sure any business we do is done and then let fans know."

Davies, whose side moved level on points with Championship leaders Newcastle following Tuesday's 5-0 drubbing of QPR, added: "I've given a list of names to the transfer acquisitions committee and there are many players on that list.

"But what we want to do is talk about signings we make, not about the potential targets."

Davies also revealed that he still hopes to extend on-loan Aston Villa full-back Nicky Shorey's stay at the City Ground.

England international Shorey joined the Reds in November and is due to return to Villa Park before Forest play Derby this weekend.

First-choice left-back Stephen Warnock has a shin injury and boss Martin O'Neill is thought to be keen for Shorey to go back as cover.

But Davies added: "We are keeping our fingers crossed that we can do something."
