Rob Earnshaw scored 17 goals for Nottingham Forest last season
Nottingham Forest striker Rob Earnshaw is hoping to win his fitness battle to face first club Cardiff City on Sunday.
The Welsh international has returned to training after suffering a calf injury in training ahead of Wales' 2-1 World Cup qualifying defeat in Finland.
"I am on a race to be fit for the weekend and the game against Cardiff City," Earnshaw told his Twitter page.
Earnshaw enjoyed a record-breaking 105-goal seven year spell at Cardiff before a £3.5m move to West Bromwich in 2004.
Dexter Blackstock and David McGoldrick are Forest's regular front-line strikers as Earnshaw, who has started just two Championship games this season, is one of six strikers competing for two spots.
