Nottingham Forest midfielder Chris Cohen has signed a new four-year deal.

The 22-year-old missed just five games last season and played a crucial role in helping the Reds avoid relegation from the Championship.

Cohen, who joined from Yeovil in the summer of 2007, was the club's player of the season and still had two years to run on his existing deal.

Manager Billy Davies said: "The fact Chris wants to stay speaks volumes and we're delighted."

Cohen is the first player to sign a new contract following the end of the season and Davies hopes more will follow suit.

"All the players know where we're looking to go and it's a great indication when players want to sign new contracts," Davies added.
