Davies targets Blackstock signing

Dexter Blackstock
I've loved every minute of being here, I've managed to fit into the squad straight away

Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies has confirmed he wants to sign QPR striker Dexter Blackstock.

Blackstock, 22, scored twice in six games during an impressive late-season City Ground loan spell which helped Forest avoid relegation to League One.

And Davies told BBC Radio Nottingham he hopes to make the move permanent.

"Conversations have started with Dexter. He fitted in very well and gave us a different dimension - which we needed," Davies said.

Blackstock has already said he would be happy to discuss joining the Reds.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "I've loved every minute of being here, I've managed to fit into the squad straight away.

"The fan base, the training ground, the stadium - everything's great about Nottingham Forest."

But Blackstock added: "It's out of my hands whether I come here next season.

"It's up to the clubs to agree a fee and if they do I'd be more than happy to come and talk to Forest."

After helping Forest survive the threat of relegation the big striker thinks good things lie ahead for Billy Davies' men.

"Next year's a massive year for Nottingham Forest and I know the manager won't want to be in this position next season," he said.

"This club's destined for the Premier League, there's no doubt about that.

"If I can be part of that then it will be great, but if I can't then I have to go back to QPR."
