Kelly proud of Forest efforts

Forest lie 22nd in Championship with three games to play

Nottingham Forest assistant manager David Kelly said he was proud of the Reds' performance in Monday's goalless draw with Sheffield United.

Forest had Kelvin Wilson sent off after 16 minutes after he appeared to head-butt United's Greg Halford.

Kelly told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's a fantastic result. The boys' effort and application was first class.

"It shows that the players care for what they're trying to do and they deserve their plaudits."

The result sees Forest slide into the Championship relegation zone on goal difference.

Billy Davies' side are level on 46 points with Barnsley and Norwich and two points ahead of Southampton, who lie 23rd.

Kelly said the Reds need to focus on their own results, rather than those of the teams around them, if they are to avoid the drop to League One.

"You can't do anything about anyone else's results. You've got to take care of yourself," said Kelly.

"It'll be the same when we play Coventry, Blackpool and Southampton.

"We just have to look after ourselves," he added.
