Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has completed his first signing at The City Ground with the capture of Southampton goalkeeper Paul Smith.
The 26-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the League One outfit.
"When the opportunity arrived to play for such a prestigious club and learn from an excellent young manager too, I knew I had to take it," said Smith.
"There is a great set-up and everyone is determined to make a serious attempt at winning promotion this season."
He added: "Forest have been in League One long enough now and we need to get back to challenging for a place in the Premiership.
"I am really looking forward to getting started and hopefully challenging for a first team place."
Smith will provide current Red's number one Rune Pedersen with competition for the goalkeeper's position.
