Bristol Rovers have turned down a bid from Nottingham Forest for their star striker Junior Agogo.
Agogo was subject of a bid from Southend in July
Speaking to BBC Radio Bristol, chief executive Bill Smith confirmed Forest had "some way to go" in meeting Rovers' valuation of the 27-year-old.
"I'm confident he'll stay with Rovers unless I get an offer which I think is a really good offer," Smith said.
"If that happens, that money would enable us to replace him with at least as good or better player."
Rovers first-team coach Paul Trollope confirmed Forest's interest in the Ghana international after Rovers' 1-0 win over Grimsby on Saturday.
