Megson begins rebuilding process

Nottingham Forest boss Gary Megson

Nottingham Forest boss Gary Megson says his clearout is part of a massive rebuilding task at the City Ground.

Megson, who has released 12 players and put five more on the transfer list, told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We've got to have a good summer and pre-season.

"It's going to be an almighty task if the same thing happens to us as at Sheffield Wednesday.

"We've got to have a team that are capable of living up to the expectation that they will have."

Megson has responded to relegation to League One by overseeing a complete overhaul of the Forest squad.

Eoin Jess, Jon Hjelde, Andy Impey, Darryl Powell, Chris Doig, Gregor Robertson, Barry Roche, Craig Westcarr and James Biggins have been released.

Teenagers Gavin Hurren, John Lukic and Jonathan Wilmet have also been told they are surplus to requirements.

Meanwhile, David Johnson, Marlon King, Alan Rogers, Adam Nowland and Kevin James have been transfer-listed. But defender John Curtis will be offered a new deal by Megson.
