PLC aim for Forest backer
Nottingham Forest benefactor Nigel Doughty feels the club would benefit from losing its status as a publicly quoted company.

Doughty has already invested £12m and offered to plough another £5m into the City Ground club.

The venture capitalist feels that if the club went back to being a limited company, its long-term stability would be improved.

Doughty said: "One of the problems in being a PLC is that we have to advertise our financial problems.

"It means people might seek to take advantage of that when we're trying to sell players or negotiate contracts.

"If we can conduct our business more privately, it would help the club a terrific amount."
