Norwich City full-back Russell Martin has been handed a new deal, keeping him at Carrow Road until June 2014.

The 24-year-old has chipped in with four goals from 30 games this season.

Martin, who joined City from Peterborough United 12 months ago after an initial loan move, has featured 57 times for Paul Lambert's side.

"I think he deserves it for the way he's been playing. He's come from Posh and has done really well," Lambert told the club's website.

"He's a top professional in terms of training and the way he plays the game."

The former Wycombe right-back's eye-catching performances this season had sparked speculation linking him to Premier League sides.

But Martin says he is keen to continue his development with the Canaries.

"Playing under this manager, at this club and with the players I have around me I feel like I have improved and hopefully people can see that," he said.

"This new contract gives me a platform to continue that and the fans have been great since I've been here and I'm hopefully here for a few more years to come."
