On-loan defender Leon Barnett is set to make a permanent move to Norwich City after the Championship club agreed terms with West Brom.

The 25-year-old will sign a three-and-a-half year deal when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Barnett, who has made 17 appearances for Paul Lambert's side, joined the Canaries on loan from Albion in August.

"Leon has been colossal for us. He has become a big favourite at the club," Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"The biggest compliment I can give him is you couldn't tell if he was a loan or a permanent signing with his performances.

"I'm delighted to get him on board he's a good young player and wants to do well here."

Barnett, who scored his first City goal against Leeds in October, added: "Now my future's clear I can concentrate on playing.

"The gaffer has put faith in me by playing me.

"I think the team is going in the right direction, we're doing well in the league at the moment.

"Hopefully we can go on an FA Cup run and you never know what could happen at the end of the season."

Barnett began his career at Luton before joining the Baggies for £2.5m in 2007.

He played 20 games during a seven-month loan spell at Coventry City last season.
