Cottee clinches Canaries deal

Cottee celebrates one of his goals for Leicester
Norwich City have signed 35-year-old Tony Cottee on a free transfer from Leicester City.

The veteran striker is set to join up with the Canaries squad ahead of their next match against Stockport County.

Martin O'Neill took Cottee to Filbert Street during the 1997/98 season and the highlight of his spell at the Foxes came last season when he won a Worthington Cup winners medal.

Following the summer signings of strikers Ade Akinbiyi and Trevor Benjamin, plus the recent purchase of Richard Cresswell from Sheffield Wednesday, Cottee has found himself surplus to Peter Taylor's requirements.

On joining the bottom placed team in Division One the former England international said: "I believe I can make the team better and score the goals that will move the team up the league.

"Long term I want to be part of the set up that will take this club back up to the Premiership," added the former West Ham and Everton goalscorer.
