Daley secures Carrow Road future

Teenager Luke Daley has been rewarded with a new, extended three-year Norwich City contract after a string of good performances this season.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who only made his first team debut in February, signed his first professional contract in April 2008, penning a two-year deal.

But he has now extended that by tieing himself to Carrow Road until 2012.

Daley is one of several former Norwich Academy players given a run under new Canaries boss Paul Lambert this season.

The Northampton-born player, who made three substitute appearances under previous boss Bryan Gunn late last season, made his first league start at MK Dons a month ago.

But, although he has now featured 10 times in a Canaries shirt, Norwich boss Lambert says that Daley is still only really being shown the ropes.

"Luke has a lot more developing and learning still to do," Lambert told the club website. "But he's made a great start to his career.

I just want to keep developing and bettering myself as a player

"He has a lot of potential if he sticks at it.

"He's one of a number of young players coming through that we are hoping will follow suit and commit to new deals with the club."

Daley said: "It's brilliant. I've been putting the work in during training and got some starts, made a few appearances and impressed the boss.

"Now my objective is fixing myself into a permanent position in the starting XI.

"It's good to be in and around the squad but I just want to keep developing and bettering myself as a player."
