Norwich keeper fails to turn up

Michael Theoklitos
Theoklitos' only game for Norwich came in the 7-1 defeat by Colchester

Norwich manager Paul Lambert says that goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos will be disciplined for failing to show for the JP Trophy tie at Gillingham.

Theoklitos was due to be on the bench at Priestfield on Tuesday, leaving the Canaries with just four substitutes.

Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk: "Nobody is bigger than the club and he has let everybody down. Michael will be disciplined by the club."

Norwich won the game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Cody McDonald.

Theoklitos, 28, joined City as a free agent on a two-year deal in July.

But, he has played just 90 minutes for the Canaries, the 7-1 opening-day defeat by Colchester United.

He was due to be recalled to the bench at Gillingham as a replacement for Declan Rudd, who was on international duty with the England Under-19 side.

Despite the Australian's absence, Lambert said he was pleased with the win that puts City into the last 16 of the Trophy.

"Collectively as a group, we're doing terrifically well at the minute," said the former Colchester boss.

"I'm absolutely delighted with them and delighted with another win."
