Norwich City have secured the signing of striker Grant Holt from League Two side Shrewsbury Town.

The 28-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Carrow Road after just a year at the Prostar Stadium.

Holt told BBC Radio Norfolk he was looking forward to the challenge of helping get the Canaries promoted.

"It's a tough league, which won't be a walkover, but the signings the gaffer's made put us in a great position to go straight back up," he said.

Holt also acknowledged that his physical presence could be a big factor in League One.

"I'll be able to put myself about and get involved in the game," he said. "But I'm not all about that - it's just another side that I've got."

After completing his ninth signing of the summer - and his fourth of the day - Canaries manager Bryan Gunn said he had acquired one of his top summer targets in Holt.

"Grant's one that, as soon as the new board of directors was set up, I really made a play for," he said.

Holt scored 28 goals in all competitions in 12 months with the Shropshire side.

Colchester United had made an initial undisclosed bid for Holt but the bid was rejected. The deal to move to Carrow Road is thought to be worth £400,000.
